Gas-contaminated soil has been detected 25 kilometres further south of an existing exclusion zone around a controversial Western Downs gas project, Queensland’s Environment Department says.
Environment Minister Steven Miles admitted there was no way of predicting the size of the contamination zone.
“We’re talking about pollution travelling underground over great distances,” he said.
